Do you ever feel like you’re free falling?
If you’re a thrill seeker, maybe that doesn’t sound so bad. For me, the feeling doesn’t make me excited or happy. The feeling makes me want to run away, hide, or quit.
If you are contemplating quitting, hiding, or running away, I want to enourage you today!
I felt like I was free falling right through 2018 and into 2019 like a helpless eaglet slipping out of her nest. I knew that I had to trust that the Lord’s everlasting arms were underneath me instead of trusting the feeling. The feeling never really went away, but the ability to endure it was strengthened as I meditated on truth instead of only on how I felt.
The most crucial issue at hand when we feel out of control, even more than whether or not we will hit the ground, is whether or not we will remain faithful to trust Him despite our feelings. One way we can significantly impact now and eternity during our time on earth is how we respond to the darkest hours and brokenness of life.
Will we trust the One who rides on the heavens to help us and who keeps us secure upon His everlasting arms?
Here are some verses that blessed me during my most crucial season last year:
“In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
“You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” -Exodus 10:4
“There is none like God, O
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” -Deuteronomy 33:26-27
God’s Word always attaches a truth about Him (or about His people) to a command or call to action. We are empowered to carry out the call to action by these truths. Moses didn’t just tell God’s people to be strong and courageous. He said this:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” -Deuteronomy 31:6-8
Do not fear, friends. No matter what you fear or face in life, The Lord your God goes with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. He is your dwelling place. He is supporting you with His everlasting arms even as you feel like you’re falling. In fact, He carries you on His wings.
Let’s give Him the glory He deserves by living and loving boldly in the face of fear in this broken world.
During my own personal experience of free-falling last year, I created a course on “Overcoming Overwhelm.” I know I only had the desire or enablement to do that by the help of the Holy Spirit. Overcoming Overwhelm isn’t so much about ridding life of overwhelming events, but about enduring them in a God-honoring and spiritually healthy way. Check it out here and pay what you want:
Linking up this week with these lovely bloggers:
I surely understand your thoughts on free falling. It was so wonderful to see this post from you today, and it sounds like God has really taken you through some dark, difficult places, but you have remained faithful to Him, and that is such a victory report for you. Our friend often says, “God will bring you through, if you can stand the pull.” Sometimes, that process is so painful, but He is always there and helping to cushion the blow. Sometimes, I think He absorbs the worst part, and can you imagine if we had to face these trials alone, without Him? He is my everything, and I find myself leaning harder on Him as time goes by. I trust He will bless you and draw very near to you today, sweet friend. Sending love and hugs your way!
Hi Cheryl, thank you for your encouraging words. It’s always good to hear from others who have endured and come out the other side…still leaning on the Lord. I too find myself leaning harder on Him as time goes on. I suppose that is the greatest thing I can hope for in life. Love and hugs to YOU!
Thank you for sharing so many beautiful, encouraging words and verses. He is faithful all of the time! Sweet blessings to you!
Likewise, thanks for sharing the encouraging thoughts on your blog! I enjoyed the post on recalibrating!
How wonderful to have Him care for us!
Yes-He’s cared for me and my family so sweetly in the midst of our challenging year. I can’t even count all of the surprising ways He has showered us with provision and care.
It is so easy to quit before God is ready to reveal the next step. There is so much to learn during the waiting/wilderness. Many times we believe if we can’t see anything happening than nothing is happening. God is always working behind the scenes and that is the beauty of walking thruogh the wilderness. He is always with us. Loved these words today.
Thanks Mary, so true. The wilderness is a training ground to learn to hope and trust that God is working in ways we cannot see.
