The True Light Part 2

“In him, was life, and the life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness.”                                                                                                                                  -John 1:4-5

The Light has crossed through

revealing, warm, guiding spark

Darkness cannot squelch

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Do you sense the strength of the darkness? Do not fret.  We may be tempted to do so.  The world seems to be overcome with darkness.  But cling once again to the truths of the bible.  The Word tells us that we are more than conquerers and greater is He in us than He who is in the world.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” -Romans 8:31-39

By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.” -1 John 4:2-5

Jesus came to reveal, warm, guide and spark life in us.

Jesus is the light and…

“DARKNESS HAS NOT OVERCOME IT.” -John 1:5

He, the light, has actually overcome the darkness.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33
This overcoming light is active in your life right now.
The light reveals.  He came to reveal Himself to us and to make us His.  He came to make Himself ours.
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them, has light shined.” -Isaiah 9:2
The light warms.  He warms our heart and transforms it.
“I have come into the world as light so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” -John 12:46
The light guides.  If you feel lost in the crazy shuffle of life, turn once again to Him.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” -Psalm 119:105
“I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” -John 8:12
The light conveys and sparks life.  Plants grow in the sun and we grow as we the light of God’s word shines on our hearts.
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of man. The light shines in the darkness” -John 1:4-5
Dear Lord, illuminate our minds, hearts and spirits with the truth that you are the true light which cannot be overcome by any evil or darkness that we see in the world.  Help us to turn, once again, to your revealing, warming, guiding, life-giving light.  Give us a sense of hope instead of dread.  You have victory over the darkness.  You have rescued us from it’s dominion and brought us into the kingdom of the son you love in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
