What Attributes of God Can I Image For Others Today?

Is it wrong for me to think I can reflect God?

Humans aren’t perfectly holy, all-present, or all-knowing.

Don’t worry! I don’t propose that we can reflect those kinds of attributes, but if we are in Christ we are enabled and called by God to image other attributes of Himself; the ones He calls His followers to. Imaging them isn’t to be a prideful or self-righteous move; it’s just the opposite. God’s attributes are all based on His perfect love. The essence of His kind of love is kindness, tenderness,…

Ancient Practice for Remembering God’s Presence Throughout the Day

Psalm 139

I walked into my husband’s office to look through every single shelf seeking a book title that might touch my heart. My husband has two offices, each with walls covered with books.  To be married to a man who loves books as much as I do is a dream come true. His books are organized neatly in rows according to subjects.  It’s a far cry from my office with books scattered, piled high, and teetering about to fall over.  I don’t always know exactly what I’m looking for…

If You’re Longing for a New, Full Life

IMG_0594

Long walks and bike rides have been P.E. at the Jung Homeschool this week. Warm days and new spring life sprouting up and down the sidewalks from our house to the downtown riverfront call us outdoors.  We respond with a passion, a camera, bikes and a scooter.

I remember why spring is my favorite season.  Warm air, sunshine and flowers deliver joy and hope.

New life all around me.  It calls me to step, more easily, into joy.

Do I realize, though, that…

The Greatest Perspective Available to Overcome Temptations

farm2

It’s been a lazy summer.  Delightful, easy, carefree and…I don’t want it to end!

With a light schedule and easy days, there has been less temptation toward frustration in the home. I guess that is why I wasn’t prepared for it.

I became frustrated and angered very quickly at a situation with the kids at home yesterday. Afterward, I wondered aloud to God how it happened.  How had I…

Moving From “Yeah, But…” to “But Now”

DSCN1087

I love this picture.  The dying stalks lifting up frail heads to seemingly worship.  The sun casting its transforming rays through and beautifying them.

Without the sun and with a different perspective, this picture would have turned out so much different.  It was actually taken at a cemetery.  The nearby tombstones were not caught but the light filtering through seeds was.  A reminder to me of hope beyond death and of perspective.

What a difference perspective makes.

What an impact our words have on our perspective.

“Yeah, but…”

These are words that are moving toward extinction…

Losing and Renewing the Mind

086

Does anyone else out there have a  flighty brain?

Do you feel that it is on the run and you can hardly catch it…for me…sometimes I can hardly find it!

The apostle Paul says, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).

We are transformed by the renewing of the mind.

But what if we’ve lost our minds?!

Seriously now…perhaps that is…

Tid Bit Tuesday…Healing the Mind

I find it hard to write on Tuesdays…there is less time because every Tuesday I do something special.  I talk to a dear friend and we discuss what God is doing in lives and then we pray.  We’ve been doing this for about a year now and I am finding that every Tuesday I come away with a new thought about how God is working in our lives or how I want to see him work in our lives.

Today I am thinking about the healing of the mind.  Every Tuesday I will pose a simple question or give a…
